Live Coverage: President Jimmy Carter’s Funeral

Former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral will be held at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., honoring the 39th president’s legacy.

Carter passed away at the age of 100 after a long life of service, spending his final years in hospice care. Leaders, family, and supporters will gather to pay tribute.

Serving from 1977 to 1981, Carter prioritized human rights, energy reform, and peace efforts, including the Camp David Accords. While his presidency faced challenges, his post-White House work defined his legacy.

Through the Carter Center, he championed humanitarian aid, global health, and democracy, earning the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.

Born in Plains, Georgia, in 1924, Carter’s small-town roots shaped his values. A Navy veteran and peanut farmer before politics, he remained committed to service.

His impact as a leader, humanitarian, and advocate for peace will endure.
