TSA Enforces REAL ID: New Travel Rules Start May 2025

The Transportation Security Administration aka TSA announced that enforcement of REAL ID requirements will officially begin on May 7, 2025, after years of delays. The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses. and was passed in 2005 following a 9/11 Commission recommendation,

The delay was due to many factors but of course during the pandemic many postponements were caused but now the enforcement date now seems to be the final one. If you are traveling without a REAL ID-compliant license, you will need an alternative form of identification, such as a passport, in order to board your flights.

It is encouraged to check through all of the ID requirements to avoid travel disruptions. Missing or non-compliant IDs could lead to missed flights and rebookings.
