In a Blockbuster trade The Mavericks are trading Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, according to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania. The Utah Jazz will receive Jalen Hood-Schifrin, the 2025 Clippers 2nd round 2025 Mavericks 2nd round pick.

Mavericks’ general manger Nico Harrison told ESPN “I believe that defense wins championships. I believe that getting an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We’re built to win now and in the future.”
The Dallas Mavericks currently have a record of 26-23 and are ranked 9th in the Western Conference.
Dončić, 25, has been a standout in the 2025 NBA season, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game over 22 appearances. While he is currently out due to a left calf strain, Luka’s all-around performance continues to solidify his status as one of the league’s elite players. With a field goal percentage of 52.8%, he remains a dominant force for the Lakers, showcasing his elite scoring and rebounding abilities while ranking among the league’s top performers. He will now pair with guard Kyrie Irving and try to return to the NBA Finals.
